Small actions. Stronger teammates.
Small Actions. Stronger Teammates.
Build belonging through the things you do every session.
Belonging is shaped by everyday actions. You can help build a welcoming team without being the loudest person in the gym.
Notice Who Is New
Introduce yourself, explain where the group is gathering, and invite someone to join your pair or small group. Avoid assuming that everyone already knows the drill.
Respond to Mistakes with Respect
Use a teammate’s name, offer a simple encouragement and get ready for the next play. Save technical feedback for a moment when it is invited and appropriate.
Make Encouragement Specific
Notice effort that helps the team: communicating on defence, making an extra pass, listening carefully or including someone. These contributions deserve attention too.
For Coaches
Explain what respectful communication looks like in your group. Rotate partners thoughtfully, check that instructions are understood, and make it clear how an athlete can raise a concern.
When someone feels excluded or unsafe, involve a responsible adult or program lead. Building a good environment is a shared responsibility.
Explore a program or ask our team where to start.
