Coach a Group with Different Starting Points.

Keep the learning shared while changing the challenge.

Legacy North editorial draft · October 2026

Keep One Purpose

Athletes can work on the same decision at different levels of difficulty. For passing, one pair might begin stationary while another adds movement or light defensive pressure. The shared learning can remain finding a clear target and delivering an accurate pass.

Change One Constraint at a Time

Adjust distance, space, speed, defender pressure or number of choices. Avoid changing everything at once; you need to see which adjustment helps. Let athletes move between variations as they develop confidence.

Protect Dignity

Describe variations as different challenges rather than good and bad groups. Rotate partners thoughtfully and avoid making one athlete the permanent demonstration of a mistake. Ask whether the activity feels too easy, manageable or overwhelming, then observe as well as listen.

Make It Useful.
