Plan a Session Around One Learning Goal.

A practical 75-minute framework to adapt to your group.

Legacy North editorial draft · October 2026

Choose the Learning Before the Drill

Write one observable goal, such as creating a passing angle after a teammate receives the ball. Choose an activity that gives athletes many opportunities to try that decision. Prepare a simpler and a harder version.

Use a Flexible Session Outline

Try 10 minutes of welcome and movement preparation, 15 minutes of skill exploration, 20 minutes of guided practice, 20 minutes of a small-sided game and 10 minutes of reflection and departure. These are planning blocks, not a prescription; adapt for age, access needs, facility time and the group’s response.

Make the Game Reveal the Learning

Use a condition that encourages the chosen behaviour rather than stopping every mistake. Ask athletes what they noticed. Finish by recording what worked, who needed a different entry point and what should change next time.

Make It Useful.

Write your own next step. These notes stay in this page and are not saved or sent; print before leaving if you want to keep them.
