Write a Role Brief Someone Can Act On.
Replace “help wherever needed” with clear responsibilities and support.
Legacy North editorial draft · October 2026
Describe the Actual Work
Name the setting, tasks, time commitment and person supervising the role. Distinguish what the volunteer may do from what requires a coach or program leader. Clear limits help people contribute with confidence.
Explain Preparation and Support
List the screening, orientation and training that the organization requires before the role starts. Identify who answers questions, provides materials and handles an absence. Do not imply a person is cleared because they have expressed interest.
Make Escalation Simple
Explain what to do with an injury, a disclosure, an unhappy parent or a concern about another adult. Provide the actual reporting route before the first session. Review the role after the first few shifts and adjust the workload if needed.
Make It Useful.
Write your own next step. These notes stay in this page and are not saved or sent; print before leaving if you want to keep them.
