Write Your First Coach Enquiry

Prepare a clear, honest message about a development opportunity.

When to use it

Use with a parent, guardian or current coach when contacting a new program.

Put It into Practice

  1. Find the program’s official contact and read its eligibility and communication instructions. Avoid sending private details to unverified social accounts.
  2. Introduce yourself briefly, describe your current basketball context and ask one specific question. Use accurate information rather than inflated statistics or comparisons.
  3. Ask a trusted adult to review the message and follow the program’s youth communication rules. Keep a copy and give the recipient reasonable time to respond.

What It Can Look Like

An athlete asks about age eligibility and the next information session rather than requesting a guaranteed roster place.

Your notes stay on this page. They are not saved or sent. Print before leaving to keep a copy.

Take it with you: A good enquiry makes the next conversation easier; it does not need a sales pitch.
