Make Travel-Aware Practice Decisions
Long journeys can affect how athletes arrive and how much time families can spend at the gym. Acknowledge travel as a practical planning factor. Work with families and organisers on realistic arrangements without making athletes responsible for adult logistics.
When to use it
Use for regional sessions where athletes come from several communities.
Put It into Practice
- Ask families through approved channels about arrival windows and transport constraints. Collect only information needed for planning and avoid sharing private details in the group.
- Put essential explanations where late-arriving athletes can receive them and publish a clear finish time. Allow a straightforward entry routine for transport delays.
- Review whether session timing or location is excluding people. Bring patterns to organisers and discuss options without promising transport, funding or schedule changes you cannot authorise.
What It Can Look Like
A coach notices several athletes arrive after a ferry connection and arranges a repeatable briefing rather than treating them as disengaged.

Take it with you: Access planning belongs alongside drill planning.
