Write a Session Handover Another Coach Can Use
A substitute coach should not have to reconstruct your intentions from drill names. A handover should explain the group, the learning target and the practical decisions that keep the session running. Share personal information only through approved channels.
When to use it
Use when another qualified adult is covering a practice or taking over a station.
Put It into Practice
- Write the learning goal, timetable, equipment and court layout. Include the simplest version of each activity and the signal for stopping or rotating.
- Explain supervision roles, emergency arrangements and where approved participant information is held. Highlight relevant adjustments without putting sensitive details on a public sheet.
- Ask the covering coach to repeat the opening plan and flag uncertainties. Leave space for their observations so the next session builds on what actually happened.
What It Can Look Like
A passing station handover specifies groups of three, rotation every two minutes and the cue 'show a target' instead of only saying 'passing drill'.
Your notes stay on this page. They are not saved or sent. Print before leaving to keep a copy.
Take it with you: Transfer the purpose and practical decisions, not just the activity names.
