Reduce the Personal Data You Collect
Every unnecessary field creates another piece of information to protect. Review registration and feedback forms by asking what decision each requested detail actually supports.
When to use it
Use this before a new registration cycle or when copying an old form.
Put It into Practice
- List each field, its purpose, who needs access and how long it must be kept under applicable organizational requirements; flag information with no clear use.
- Remove or redesign unnecessary questions with the responsible data owner, keeping essential safety and participation information in the appropriate protected process.
- Test the revised form and explain the purpose of sensitive requests plainly; establish how families can ask questions or correct inaccurate information.
What It Can Look Like
A program removes an open-ended request for family circumstances from ordinary registration and provides a separate confidential route for discussing needed support.
Your notes stay on this page. They are not saved or sent. Print before leaving to keep a copy.
Take it with you: Collecting less can make administration clearer while respecting families; it is not a substitute for following the organization's actual privacy obligations.
