Write Information People Can Act On
Program information is effective when a family can use it to make the next decision. Reduce ambiguity before adding more promotional language or longer explanations.
When to use it
Use this when writing registration, arrival or schedule information for a mixed audience.
Put It into Practice
- Identify the reader's immediate task and put the essential facts first: who the program is for, where and when it happens, cost and next action.
- Replace unexplained abbreviations and vague phrases with concrete language, and provide an accessible contact route for questions or alternate formats where available.
- Ask someone unfamiliar with the program to explain the next step using only the draft, then fix the places where they had to guess.
What It Can Look Like
An announcement replaces “usual gym, regular time” with the named venue, entrance, date and arrival time, then links to the verified registration information.
Your notes stay on this page. They are not saved or sent. Print before leaving to keep a copy.
Take it with you: Clear writing reduces avoidable uncertainty and helps families decide whether the opportunity fits their circumstances.
