Give Siblings a Place in the Plan
A season affects the whole household, including children who are not on the roster. Make their needs visible without making the athlete feel guilty for participating.
When to use it
Use this when repeated practices, travel or weekend events are crowding out other family members' activities.
Put It into Practice
- Ask each child what part of the current schedule is hardest, using separate conversations if one person usually dominates family discussions.
- Identify one practical adjustment, such as alternating spectators, protecting a sibling's activity or arranging quiet time away from a crowded gym.
- Put the adjustment on the family calendar and review it after two weeks; adults remain responsible for balancing competing needs.
What It Can Look Like
A younger sibling dislikes spending every Saturday courtside, so caregivers alternate attendance and protect that child's library visit on the other weekend.

Take it with you: Fairness can mean different arrangements for different children; it does not require everyone to enjoy the same activities.
