Ask for a Task to Be Explained Again

Get the information you need without apologizing for learning.

When to use it

Use when instructions were fast, noisy or unfamiliar.

Put It into Practice

  1. Choose the part you do understand and name the missing piece. A specific question helps the coach respond more clearly than pretending you understood.
  2. Ask for a demonstration, a slower explanation or a chance to repeat the first step back. Different tasks may need different explanations.
  3. Try the first repetition and confirm the key instruction. If several teammates are confused, encourage a shared clarification rather than guessing together.

What It Can Look Like

“Where do I move after the pass?” gives the coach a clear point to demonstrate.

Take it with you: Clarifying a task is part of taking responsibility for your learning.
