Include the Teammate Who Rarely Gets the Ball
Notice participation without turning a teammate into a charity project.
When to use it
Use when the same players dominate an informal run or practice activity.
Put It into Practice
- Notice who has opportunities to make decisions and who stays on the edge. Ask the coach whether the activity has a specific focus or role arrangement.
- Use basketball actions that invite participation: communicate, create a passing angle and recognize an open teammate. Keep the pass appropriate to the situation.
- If exclusion continues, discuss the group pattern with the coach without labelling one player as weak. Suggest an activity where everyone gets meaningful decisions.
What It Can Look Like
During a small-sided activity, teammates create space so a quieter player has a real passing option.

Take it with you: Inclusion means meaningful involvement, not a token touch or public pity.
