Learn Names Before Nicknames
Show respect in the way you address teammates.
When to use it
Use at the start of a team cycle or when you realize you have guessed a name.
Put It into Practice
- Ask how the person wants to be addressed and how to pronounce their name. Listen and try it rather than substituting a nickname for your convenience.
- If you make a mistake, correct it briefly and continue. Avoid making the person repeatedly reassure you or explain their background.
- Use names respectfully during activities and help the group do the same. Only use a nickname when the person welcomes it.
What It Can Look Like
A teammate asks for the pronunciation once, practices it quietly and uses it correctly at the next session.

Take it with you: Respect is often visible in everyday details.
