Protect the Quality of Your Coaching Energy

A tired coach may give rushed explanations or react more sharply than intended. Notice your own patterns and plan support before they affect the group. This is practical workload management, not a test of how much you care about the athletes.

When to use it

Use when sessions, travel and other responsibilities begin to pile up.

Put It into Practice

  1. Identify the parts of a session where your attention tends to drop. Simplify unnecessary setup and prepare key instructions before arriving at the gym.
  2. Share appropriate duties with qualified staff while preserving supervision requirements. Build clear transitions and a realistic finish instead of adding activities you cannot deliver well.
  3. Debrief one moment with a trusted colleague and choose a manageable change for next time. If workload remains unsustainable, raise it with the program leader rather than relying on willpower.

What It Can Look Like

The coach delegates equipment setup, shortens the activity list and arrives with one clear cue for each block.
