Create a Low-Pressure Season Ending
The end of a program can bring pride, disappointment or uncertainty. A simple closing routine helps an athlete keep what mattered without requiring a verdict on the entire season.
When to use it
Use this after the final session, allowing time before discussing the next registration.
Put It into Practice
- Invite your athlete to name one moment they want to remember, one thing they learned and one thing they would change; accept mixed feelings.
- Handle practical closure together, such as returning borrowed equipment and thanking people the athlete chooses, using appropriate communication channels and private details.
- Leave a gap before deciding what comes next where possible, and write down questions for the next program rather than immediately assigning new goals.
What It Can Look Like
An athlete returns a loaned ball, sends a short thank-you through the approved channel and takes a week before considering the next program.
Your notes stay on this page. They are not saved or sent. Print before leaving to keep a copy.
Take it with you: A season can be worthwhile and imperfect at the same time; closing it does not require a trophy or a new commitment.
