Make Room for Rest in the Family Calendar

A full calendar can crowd out ordinary downtime even when every individual activity seems worthwhile. Look at the complete week before adding another commitment.

When to use it

Use this when your household feels rushed or your athlete has little unstructured time between obligations.

Put It into Practice

  1. Map school, travel, chores and organized activities alongside open time; ask your athlete which parts feel most demanding without diagnosing the reason.
  2. Identify one optional commitment that could change and discuss a realistic adjustment with the relevant adults before the next busy week.
  3. Protect the agreed open period from replacement activities and review how the arrangement feels; rest does not need to be earned through performance.

What It Can Look Like

A family removes an optional clinic on a travel weekend and keeps Sunday afternoon unscheduled, even if the athlete chooses to spend part of it shooting casually.

Take it with you: A sustainable routine includes space that is not measured, coached or turned into another goal.
