Prepare for a Session That Gets Cancelled
A cancelled session can disrupt transport, anticipation and family plans. A simple fallback helps everyone respond without presenting every inconvenience as a character-building opportunity.
When to use it
Use this when weather, facility problems or travel conditions may interrupt a program.
Put It into Practice
- Identify the official cancellation channel and the time you will check it; avoid relying on forwarded rumours or a child's group chat.
- Agree on a basic fallback that fits your household, such as going home, a shared activity or contacting the approved pickup adult.
- Acknowledge the athlete's disappointment and let them choose among realistic alternatives; do not require an equivalent workout to compensate for the cancellation.
What It Can Look Like
A caregiver checks the official update before leaving a rural community and offers a board game or independent downtime when the gym closes.
Your notes stay on this page. They are not saved or sent. Print before leaving to keep a copy.
Take it with you: A flexible plan protects time and relationships without pretending that disappointment must disappear immediately.
